Alabama Wildlife Federation

The Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF), established in 1935, is the state’s oldest and largest nonprofit conservation organization, dedicated to promoting the wise use and responsible stewardship of Alabama’s wildlife and natural resources. Headquartered at Lanark in Millbrook, Alabama, AWF offers educational programs through the Alabama Nature Center, which encompasses over 420 acres of forests, fields, streams, wetlands, and ponds, traversed by five miles of boardwalks and trails. Lanark also features the NaturePlex, a 23,000-square-foot facility serving as the welcome and education center, providing hands-on, outdoor-based educational experiences for all ages. Through these initiatives, AWF strives to connect individuals with the outdoors, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of Alabama’s rich natural heritage.

How We Support

The John and Joyce Caddell Education Center serves as a hub for AWF’s educational programs, providing space for workshops, seminars, and other events aimed at promoting conservation and responsible stewardship of Alabama’s natural resources. This center reflects the Caddell family’s commitment to environmental education and their support of AWF’s mission.
